Features to Consider When Choosing a CNC Plasma Cutting System

Cutting Metal with Plasma Table

Choosing a CNC plasma system can involve weighing a lot of different things for a lot of different people.  Each metal fabrication shop has a variety of unique needs that must be considered and accommodated.  While each customer comes to us with a list of “needs” or “wants” we also want to ensure customers have considered everything and help guide them with our extensive industry knowledge (over 50 years in the metal fabrication industry!) so that they invest in the ideal plasma cutting system for their needs.

When considering what type of CNC plasma cutting system is right for you, one of the first and most important things to consider is what type of materials you tend to cut most often, and how big the maximum size of sheet or plate of that material is that you plan to purchase. If you tend to purchase 4′ x 8′ sheet material, there could be significant savings from your supplier if you step up to a 5′ x 10′ sheet.  Fortunately, at Tactical CNC, we offer a wide range of table stock sizes from which to choose so that you can be certain that you are accommodating your material needs.  While the width of the system cannot change down the road, the length can be added onto later should you needs change so your money could be spent wisely now to avoid later regrets if your needs change.  Further, when choosing it is important to look closely at the quality of construction and the materials used to fabricate the CNC plasma cutting system.  There is a massive price range when it comes to CNC plasma cutting systems and some of the lowest costing machines probably are not made of the highest quality materials.  At Tactical CNC, we are proud to provide our customers with an economical cutting solution that is made of top-of-the-line, durable materials that are capable of withstanding the nature of the metal fabrication sector which can be a rough place for equipment.  When you invest in one of our plasma cutting systems you can have peace of mind that your purchase will stand the test of time regardless of your work environment because we use heavy gauge materials that can be rugged but still provide precision cutting to meet your demands.

Because we know our clients want precision and accuracy in their system, we encourage them to look at how the motion pieces of the systems are made.  Tactical CNC mounts the rails and gear track on machined flat and surfaces to ensure that the motion is smooth and completely friction free.  But, we don’t just stop there, we also use optical proximity sensors for the system to find its table limits so it will operate square and true.  These sensors do not make any contacts or make any mechanical switching, so they will operate trouble free for many years to come.  One of the most important parts of a CNC plasma cutting system is not necessarily the table or machinery itself but it is the cutting software.  Without supreme cutting software, your machine will not be able to realize its full potential.  If the cutting software is large and cumbersome it will bog you down, make use frustrating and not get the job done.  Our Tactical CNC software is a complete, made in the USA, package that contains CAD drawing capabilities and CAM cutting software that hosts multiple part grid nesting, pre-loaded cutting parameters of your plasma cutter, kerf compensation, lead ins/lead outs, G-Code tool path generator, image conversion to vector file capability and has remote access capabilities as well.  We want our customers to feel completely comfortable using our software, right from the start, which is why we offer a “virtual test drive” of our software, right from your own computer so that you can take the system through a virtual cut – proving just how easy it is to use right out of the gate.  Once installed, we never truly “leave.”  We are always around for telephone or email support for the life of the system that you purchased from us.  We encourage you to come to us with any questions and allow us to work with you to find the system that fits your needs and will help you be more profitable and productive in your metal fabrication shop.
